Neogammer R7 does it block game updates?

Hi all im a newbie but im not doing too bad so far just wanted to clear this up?

I used the guide for 4.2 system to install homebrew (was a old Wii just silly me updated it) and it worked like a dream. (Pal Wii)

So now have homebrew channel and neogammer R7 and also USB loader GX.

Tried a backup (Wii sports resort) with neogammer R7 and works fine.

Was wondering does neogammer block game updates? and do I need to do anything to stop the updates bricking my Wii and does this only apply to imports?

And also what's with the IOS to get games working about briefly, do you have to update the Neogammer frequented to get newer games working?

    Any pointers appreciated many thanks

Neogamma in a way does yes.... but the only way to truly block the updates is loading preloader and having it set to "block disc updates".... when you put a disk in to the wii and in the disk channel says sys update, if you load with neogamma it will bypass (so yes it does), but if you want to play the game through the disc channel then you will have to load preloader

the best thing to do when running across a game and getting the famous black screen, is to look through Tealc's list of what ios games use in the guides section. you can use a newer version of neogamma but it may not be necessary. preloader is always the easiest way to stop disk updates.

thanks guys that a clearer now.

Well I installed a flatmii last week and it worked fine and removed to do homebrew.

I want to prob use flatmii also cause my desktop upstairs it right next to my wii. flatmii already blocks updates as you might well know.

But now I have neogammer working I might do a few backup disks so I can play my wii in the living room occasionally (party nights mainly lol)

So if i use neogammer and run the game through the homebrew channel i have no worrys with game updates bricking my Wii then?

Also with neoammer and IOS updates i've read you can take them off the disk then add them to neogammer or something is that correct?

Thanks guys all a great help

You will just have to change the vid settings and the region settings....

so if I use a import with neogammer through homebrew theres no chance of the game updating and bricking my wii?

    many thanks

also I notice you can force 480p output i have tiger woods 10 pal but its crappy 576i so if i force 480p will it output a true 480p signal

Sorry to keep asking just want to getting everything clear

No it will not update or brick (the worst it would do is not load or reset your wii)

and if the disc game is not encoded with 480p then it will not be true 480p

Gamma should not update your system. Use "scrubbed" ISO's as an added layer of protection anyway.

Pre / prii (if you have it) loader can be set to block system updates.

Yes, change the Video settings because as we all know progressive (p) beats interlaced (i) all day long, if your TV supports it!

Thanks guys I now know that i can use neogammer pretty safety then which is good news.

About the vid or imports im not that brothered but I have tiger woods 10 backups for both pal and NTSC

the NTSC version is in 480p while the pal verison is 576i.

So looks like I might aswell let neogammer run my NTSC verison backup then.

Thanks to all for helping me clear a few things up
