    USB loader and D2CKey

Anybody got USB loader work on 3.4 system with D2CKey installed? I successfully added a homebrew channel but get "custom ios could not be loaded (ret = – 4100)" error when trying to run the loader. There are number of messages here with the same error but mostly for the softmoded wii.

Kinda new to this so any help would be appreciated.

if you want to run wii games from the usb drive you will need to softmod as the current modchip you have will do nothing for that. there are guides in the guides section that tell what to do about that error.

Homebrew channel is not enough to load backups. You need a cIOS too.

    So do this http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...0-4-1-wii.html

OK, so the way I understand it IOS is similar to BIOS on a PC. It runs in the background. cIOS is sustom version of this, loaded from a homebrew channel? I understand the reason for different cIOS, shouldn't there be only one official IOS from Nintendo?

Different IOS have different jobs. System IOS such as 30/50/60/70 run your System, loading info from System Menu, it acts a bit like a DLL file. Game IOS such as 38, 53, 55, 56 are loaded when the game is booted, each IOS has different features that the game uses. For example IOS56 has the gubbins needed for Wiispeak, which would be useless if called by Wii Fit Plus.

Here what I have done so far. Installed IOS36 using Waninkoko's custom installer. Installed WiiShizzza's USB Loader Ultimate7. The link above that Tealc posted also refers to IOS36, should I try that instead?

    Thank you.

You have differentiate between IOS36 and cIOS36. IOS 36 is a Nintendo IOS which is simply given the Trucha bug, whereas cIOS36 is Waninkoko's custom IOS based on 36 which installs to IOS249. Confused? cIOS36 was replaced by cIOS38 (based on IOS38 this time) some time ago.

Sounds like you installed cIOS36rev8 or 10

I am getting more and more confused, I'll have to do some reading before can even ask another question.
