    Any region changer?????

In Australia and I have a Jap wii,3.2J firmware with a mod chip and just updated cIOS38 r14 , did not update firmware and kept my original HBC beta. Have Neogamma R8 and Gecko for out of region play.
    All is good!
Not internet connected, but would love the menu in English .
Are there things that I have to be careful of? or any pitfalls to avoid??

Yes I read the file, and what I did not really understand was the quote "CHANGES MADE TO THE CONSOLE AREA SETTING SHOULD ALWAYS BE ACCOMPANIED BY A SYSTEM MENU CHANGE TO THE SAME REGION!" and other tech jargon that warns of bricking. So I was asking really if just a language change was all that risky?. I have learnt a lot about my Wii in the last week, but it becomes overwhelming, I am reseraching and asking first, as prevention is better than cure.

As long as you have preloader/priiloader and BootMii [boot2 preferred] then you always have the option of restoring your Wii back to working condition.

I have boot 2 and a nand file saved (I'm impressing myself here knowing this), and am happy to restore this way if necessary, will preloader/priiloader be still necessary?
also, if the language change is made do I have to change more things as per the quote in my last post? thats my query.

Don't be surprised, it shows that you pay attention to what you have already done, which on these forums, is a great thing. You have no idea how many people expect that we know exactly whats done to their Wii without them telling us. We arn't mind readers.

As per your original question, I really don't know. I have never had to change a Wiis region before. The best way to get knowledge about something is to do it for yourself, otherwise hang in there, I'm sure someone who knows whats what will come along to help you.

As long as you have BootMii as boot2 then preloader isn't a requirement. But if you have a boot2 then you can try things out and be able to restore.

What that phrase is cautioning you against just doing a setting change with AnyRegion Changer. You will have read in the link s0ur provided that AnyRegionChanger can change the Area setting or the IPL Language setting. You are warned not to just do that alone.

Your stated objective is to read your sysmenu in English. It is not safe to merely change the IPL language for example. To use AnyRegionChanger safely, you must also install a system menu version that uses that same language. You will semi-brick if you change just the region setting without changing the system menu version to the same new region. Other than brick and semi-brick risks what else to think about? Let's say you chose 3.2U (United States) because the Japanese and US Wiis are closer in compatibility than the European Wiis. What might you risk?

What will, of course change for you, is that the Shop Channel will see your Wii as US and the exclusive Japanese on-line offerings will no longer be available. I think that as both Japan and parts of Europe have the Today and Tomorrow Channel and the US does not that you would lose that channel also.

So, read some more about AnyRegionChanger, but also research to what English-speaking region should you select and what basic Wii system menu functions might be changed, lost, or gained. Fortunately, as you are in Australia, which would normally use 3.2E (European) you should have an easy time learning what the E region change might do to and for your Wii.

    Hi gen3sf,
thanks for the explanation, as we do not use the wii online the shop channel, weather etc are of no concern at this stage. Now this might sound really noob, I played around with various settings and yes at best I got English on the start up and, but was semi-bricked, and when I changed back to the Japanese settings, all was unbricked. OK, so I must install a sytem menu for the region I am changing to, is that a seperate download that has to be installed via what process?
or is it already contained within the application I am using and have just missed it?
Or have I no idea what I am talking about and your just shaking your head?

It is a separate download and you have just successfully demonstrated to yourself the need to not just change the settings, but to also install a system menu for your new chosen region.

You do not need to update from 3.2 if you want to stay with that, no game requires a FW update, just needs the IOSes installed. So, you can choose 3.2U or 3.2E unless you want to update.

    As an added value service:
    if you want 3.2U download - SystemMenu-v289-NTSCU.rar.
    if you want 3.2E download - SystemMenu-PAL-v290.rar

Download the file to your PC HDD, use WinRar to extract the wad file. Copy the system menu wad file to your SD card and install using Wad Manager.

If you choose to update-you will also need to use the IOS that is needed by the new system menu-look those up. You can download your new system menu using the NUS downloader and install using Wad Manager. Here is a guide in case NUSD means nothing to you: http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...ownloader.html.
