I have a Wii that is lu72 can this play burnt DVD's?

I looked at the guide in somebody's sig to see if this worked with burnt back ups and it wasn't listed. Does anyone know if it will work? Also is there a specific program that is best to burn the games to iso or is imgburn O.K.? Thanks

Go here: Wii Drive Chip Database [dunno if this is the place you had mentioned you checked already] and cross reference your serial number to the list. And ImgBurn will be fine. Preferebly use -Rs [you can use +Rs but you must set the booktype to DVD-ROM] use good media [ie Verbatim or Ritek] and burn at the slowest possible speed allowed.

That is the one I was talking about. I used it and it didn't have my serial number listed. I read on another forum though that after lu64 is the ones that won't work, but I am not sure if they are trustworthy. I am trying to burn New Mario Bros. and with doing the patching burning and various other things that can go wrong, I won't be sure if a failure would be, from the chipset or another failure. If anyone knows about the LU72 chipset I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

If your drive can read ANY burnt discs then you don't have the new chipset. You're good.

Is there a list of games that don't require any thought process? Or is there a list of games that need to be patched in some way. I also have super paper mario and want to try that, does that need patching? I searched on this forum, but haven't seen anything that says it needs to be patched.

Just burn a copy of wii sports if you're that curious about burning games. The only thing that would stop you from playing backups is the new drive chip and if you can play even one backup from dvd then you don't have it. After that is solved, the next issue is making sure all of your ios's are up to date, and also make sure you have the cios in my signature installed, as well as an up to date loader.

Thanks I will try wii sports. I used Dogeggs tutorial for my 4.1 system here:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

I installed everything that it said to. Am I up to date on everything? I plan on getting a usb HD and loading from there, will I need to install anything else or do I have everything I need? Also when backing up Wii sports should I just rip using imgburn and name it as a .iso and then burn it as an iso or is there other steps i need to take?

If you plan to load from discs you don't even need to screw with seeing if you have the new drive chip. What loaders do you have installed now? The best usb loader I believe is usbloaderGX. I've always used the version of neogamma that's in my sig for everything but it's really up to you. Best of luck! Read the usb loading guide in my sig to get a head start.

I know, I am just excited to use my modded wii for something. Maybe I will try an emulator.
