cIOSCORP required to play backup games on USB HDD?

Hey guys as you can see im new to wii hacking. I read the FAQ and i notice the dude (or dudett) doesn't recommend installing cIOSCORP. For now i only want to run gamecube/wii backups from a USB hard drive. So in the New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii guide, can i skip step 3 (getting a CIOS) because i don't want to mess with the wii system menu and ios files and stuff. Thanks

PS: If you could also tell me, will i be able to run new games like new super mario bros wii using the USB method? thanks again

You need to follow all steps on the tutorial to get things running. the cIOS is a prerequisite to running backup loaders of any kind and NEEDS to be installed. cIOSCORP is an installation utility that streamlines the installation of IOSs but can lead to unsavory things afterwords, I DO NOT recommend cIOSCORP, but everything in the tutorial is ok to install.
