    Gecko Versus NeoGamma

    Hi all,
Japanese Wii in Australia with a modchip and 3.2J firmware. Not internet connected, and not interested or easy where I am, just game play at home is fine.
Has Homebrew (beta version) and Gecko os (did this 12 months ago),which I run all locally sourced games (PAL)thru. All of this has been working fine, However, most recent games I bought have given 002 error, I have been recommended just to update Gecko or install Neogamma.
Really not too good at all of this soft modding, and when I truied updating to new HBC and 4.1 (from the great doggeggs guide), I got all sorts of problems, inverted HBC, frozen priloader, Gecko not recognised, so I couldnt play anything. I got frustrated and just used bootmii and restored nand back up. So Back to square 1. Can any one advise what is the easiest way to update (wht version downloads etc...), and where to place on SD card to play these games and a bit of a walk thru would be really appreciated. I am not so comp savvy.
    Thanks in advance.

No need to update your Wii menu unless you are having issues.

Neogamma R7 and R8 both have 002 fixes in the config part of the program so you are able to turn on and off as you like. I have never personally used gecko and unfortunately am unable to advise you on that part. You should be able to install Neogamma with a Wad loader or just run it off HB channel. You will need to have Cios38 rev10 or better installed I believe to take advantage Neogamma's true power.

    Hi Slimercanada,
Thanks for your attention, Now as you know I am a not that good with this, my concern was when I followed (tutorial)New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii, I had all the flipping issues with HBC duriong Cios install stage, everyone said "Oh just continue and re-install HBC it will right itself", which it did until I exited and came back and it's still inverted etc....
Will the Cios38 rev10, still work with my basic HBC beta? can you point me to a tutorial on the install of the Cios38 rev10 and then does neogamma just sit in its file under app in the SD card?

    Is there

Rev10 can be loaded via SD or wifi you will need a wad of Cios 38 in the root of you SD card to load from SD only. Both are dol files and should be put in the apps folder of the SD in a folder with their respective names. They both should run without having to do a pile of softmodding. You have half the battle already with HB channel installed.

Incidentally I believe it is cIOS38rev10 but it could be called cIOS36rev10 it has been a while since I installed that revision. If it is cIOS36 then you will need the 36 wad. If you can already use HB programs your wii must already be some what softmodded. Try running the programs as they are. The worst case scenario is they will give you an error and not work. These "should not" Brick you but you have proven that you can restore your system so don't sell your self short you are better than you think.

the inverted issue with HBC i fixed by finishing the whole softmod guide from 3.1 to 4.1 and then unistalling hbc and dvdx and bootmii. search for latest version of hackmii and install hbc, dvdx and bootmii with hackmii 0.6 installer. that solve my problem with the inverted hbc, now if that was not a good procedure wait for someone more experience to give an opinion on this. However, I did make sure I had priiloader install and working before doing that though.

    hope it helps.

OK I am going to try all over again, well maybe not all!
Just added the neo gamma onto apps as suggested and worked fine, it said "you are not using IOS249, if I know what you are doing OK, all others install a cIOS" well I went ahead and it played conduit fine. YAY!!!!!!
Now next game problem ----- SSMB, but neogamma gives message error1102,
I'll reserach unless you know the answer?
Can I install the cIOS38 r14 installer onto the HBC beta?
But thanks so much Slimercanada and Xeqter.
The whole family hassles me for getting a wii in China that was a Jap vers with a mod chip, now I can show off again. lol.

Unknown about error 1102. The answers are on the site some where I have seen them. Yes you should be able to install cIOS38rev14 just place in apps folder of SD and load the porgram.

    Hi S,
Sorry the error was 1101, thru neogamma R7 in HBC, and error 1053 thru neogamma R8 which is it's own channel. I got the cIOS38rev14 installed all Ok on HBC beta, really really appreciate the help you have given. I'll try research errors with SSMB as the dual layer disc is supposed to be problematic (now sounding like I know what I am talking about.),
Oh well, one game at a time and one problem at a time.
I just don't get that most people with these errors are related to the copy/burning of the disc and mine is 100% original.

yes DL have had issues since the begining. Even the big N admits that a stock system has problems.

    Hi,
research tells me I should try using CIOS38rev13a for this game? If I load this version does it over right the current installed cIOS38r14 or work along side?
if it works along side do I just load it via wad manager as per 3.1-4.1 soft mod tutorial or do I go thru the whole process of downgrading IOS15, patching IOS36, restoring IOS15 etc.
