LU72, upgraded to 4.2 safe to patch ioses? And full brick help.

I upgraded to 4.2 using this We Brew Wii: 4.2 Safe Firmware Updater on my wii and my friend did the same.

From what he says, his wii upgraded fine but after he used Dop-IOS v8 and installed preloader he booted backup to a corrupt system menu but was able to fix by changing ios70 to ios60. He tried to downgrade to 3.3U and fully bricked.

His wii turns onto a black screen, no health screen nothing. Wiimote is able to turn on the wii but there is no sync.

He has an open GC controller to attempt savemiifrii and an unbrick disk on dvdrw that he'll be trying later and a 4.1 softmod nand backup.

@his console is an LU70, any help would be appreciated.

What i want to know is what is the proper way to patch the ioses and such to be able to play backups and i would also like to install preloader with out bricking.

I have a full nand backup of 4.0U after i installed hbc and bootmii. I can still access bootmii but i cant restore the nand because of a warning that bootmii isnt installed on boot2. It asks to press A+B+X+Y, i cant do it because my GC controller is wireless.

    Thanks.

if you want to modify your system to play backups look in our guide section for a guide that matches your system menu version. as for your friend it seems he/she needs to slow down and think things through a little more carefully, there were way too many wrong moves done in that situation. we could have helped but it sounds like someone will need to send their wii back to nintendo
