    Confused about drive versions!!!!

    Hi all,
Just got back into owning a Wii again.Ive just bought a new PAL UK white wii 3 days ago with serial number LEH27146**** I have tried the serial on the tracker site and it says 50% chance its a GC2-D3-2 (V2)
    and 50% chance its a GC2-D3

I have softmodded it with uloader following the excellent tuts on here and everything is working great playing all backups by hard drive and dvd backup.

I have a solderless wasabiDX chip I would like to install as well but am unsure if it will work with this drive and dont really want to open the wii to check.

    Any help appreciated.

    thanks guys

If you have DVD backups working then it is a 100% surity that it's not the D3-2 drive so it must be a GC2-D3.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

    Thanks for replying m8,
Yes all dvd backups working 100%.
So does this mean I can use the wasabiDX on this drive? Cant seem to find out?
Whats the difference between D3-2 and D3 drives?

    cheers

D3-2 have no drive chip, while all others have one. Something like that anyway. The important thing is that D3-2 don't allow backups and the other one does.

I don't know which drives the WasabiDX works with, a simple google search should help you out there but I just don't feel the need to carry that information around in my head.
