Can i get a few tips

I have a wii with a wii key it is about 3 years old and i haven't updated it. when i got it ,it came with a lot of games and i didn't need anymore at the time.Since then i have found an abundance of games and burnt a few using nero, but when i try to play them they try to update my wii. Needless to say i haven't allowed this to happen because i don't want to brick my wii. I installed home-brew not totally understanding what this could do for me and now i think a wiikey update is what i need. Anyway am i going down the right path with my problem and has anybody got any tips or downloads for me? ,i would be eternally grateful.

mod chip manufacturers do make firmware updates and if it hasn't been done in a long time there may be one for it.

when you say you installed homebrew, do you mean you installed homebrew only, or did you go through a longer procedure that installed alot of complicated files and things. ppl get confused on this issue so i thought i would try to find out what extent your wii was modified using software.

i installed homebrew only because someone as clueless as me said it would solve my problem. I have took the time to read the tutorials and i think ive done it. i copied my nand and i have updated with wads using an sd card. Im not in the dark any more just a bit of a fog. Its ok though with the valuable help that people like yourselves can give me, i am at the moment a happy wii (no region,No nasty update) using bunny.thank u j
