Question Why NOT upgrade to 4.2? What do I lose?

    Hey guys,

I've been running my softmodded system on 4.1 for months now. Earlier today, I helped a friend mod his, but he was on 4.2.

I used messie's guide, and it was MUCH simpler than the 3.1-4.1 guide. If someone were to ask me to do their system, right now, after my experience, id upgrade to 4.2, and then i'd do the mod.

Can someone explain to me why the entire wiihacks website recommends using 4.1 or lower if possible?!?! It doesn't seem like I lost any functionality...

Going from 4.1 to 4.2 kills all your hard work that was already done on the MOD, there is no reason to go to 4.2 anyway. It doesn't do anything more than what 4.1 does already. Nintendo rushed that update out to try and stop modders. Plus the stubIOS249 can be a real pain, and installing our cIOS can be an even bigger pain sometimes. Depends on the Wii, sometimes it goes smooth, sometimes it doesn't. I did about 5 4.2 system mods and they all ranged in difficulty. Some took in one shot, others took more time.
