DVD Read errors are not usually specifically diagnostic-they just tell you what you already know...the DVD could not be read. If you Wii is a new purchase within about 3-4 months, it is possible your Wii has the D3-2 chip that prevents the Wii drive from reading backup discs. Without opening up the Wii, one cannot tell.
Try burning a game backup disc under optimal conditions: use ImgBurn or Nero software, burn ISO to Verbatim DVD-R blanks at a burn speed of 4X. If fail, if possible to set burn rate lower than 4X then try 2.4 or 2 X, and finally 1X. If all fail, you probably have the D3-2 chip and the most common workaround is to load and play from a USB HDD: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-usb-hdd.html

My wii isn't new. Its months old, so I know its not the new chip that you refer to. Its the 1st time I ran into this error. I appreciate the info though. thanks.
what did you do? try messing with the language settings
i just got this error with MPT, dvd9, verbatim +R, burned at 2.4x, and when i load from disc channel also says that it "could not read the disc", maybe using +R is the problem, but i can't adjust the layer break on -R
Hey BTo90. Try using DVD-R discs. This is mostlikely the problem for you. Depending on what DVD reader you have, DVD+ discs are not compatible with some DVD readers. Hope this helps....
thx, but i've already solved it, it was something of the layer break, just let imgburn to calculate optimal and tada!!!, worked smooth, but still can't load MP3, but i'm working on it
