    Modify my wii?

Good morning form sunny Cyprus! I have just bought a wii, and was told by my friend that it will not ply copied games, unless chipped. I have been sifting through posts here, and it seems that i can modify it through software rather than chip it?
I went to the Wii Drive Chip Database and it told me this

•There is a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
•And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is .
    •Lastly, a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

so what do i do now?
    Can anyone advise please?
    Thanking you all in advance
