Cios = black and white grainy games?

Hello i could use some help. I have softmodded my wii and have installed some Cios files to try get various things working. but now when i try to play my actual real version of beatles rock band, there is no color and everything is black and white and grainy.

The wii system menu is still in color and the black and white doesn't happen until i start the game. is it possible that a Cios that i've installed could have caused this? if so whats the best way to virginize my wii? I'm on 4.1U

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is the game you are trying to play PAL or something?

No its NTSC-U I just bought the game a few days ago and the wii is about a week old as well. everything was working fine last night but now its grainy and black and white. I'm positive its not a A/V cable issue or a tv issue because it was working fine with color up until i tried to softmod i guess...

is there a way to restore my wii to a fresh 4.1U?

    That's strange.

You didn't semi-brick during the softmod process did you?

Do your Wii settings still work ok?

I don't think i semi-bricked. I have complete access to everything. The wii system menu is in color and fully functional. even the disc loader channel has the beatles rockband preview in color. but when i start the game it turns gray. :/ I used a CIOS uninstaller to unistall the custom CIOS i had on there but its still gray when i play the game.

I don't know if this helps but i used an app called "pimp my wii" and i think it installed some CIOS files that i don't know how to get rid of now. I think that has everything to do with why i lost the color on my games.

Never used pimp my Wii as it does things too automatically for my liking.

Is this the only game affected this way? If it were a cIOS issue then all your games would be like it, wouldn't they?

I'm beginning to think that it's more to do with IOS than cIOS. Beatles Rock Band uses IOS56 v5146 according to my IOS thread http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-use-run.html

A simple install if IOS56 v5146 using NUS Downloader and Wad manager would fix this issue. NUS Downloader has the latest IOS56 v5405 which should be fine but if you really want IOS56 v5146 it may be available elsewhere on the forum.

hmm well i tried it on another game. I popped in wii sports and went to the disc loader channel and started the game but it just gave me a black screen. the game didn't load at all. so i tried rock band again and it works but only in black and white. I'll try what you're saying to do. but I'm a little lost at this point.

okay I dont know if this narrows the problem down any. but when i use neogamma to play rockband, the color is back and everything works fine. apparently the wii disc channel is whats messed up? but why would a backup loader work and not the actual official wii loader?

when you used neogamma to play the game is the force ntsc option on or off.

maybe when you used pimp my wii it installed some pal things and not ntsc.

can you try other games with the disc channel to see if they are in black and white or is it only that 1 game.

haha thank you both so much! the force region option sparked my memory that i had a starterpatch that was installed that was affecting the colors. everything is back to normal now thanks!
