thanks for the quick response. As far as I know, I did remove the 249 stub. To my knowledge, I have done everything. Would it be best to format the wii and start over or is this a common problem?

No don't format the Wii, that could cause huge problems. If you want to start over again, your best bet is to use the link in my sig to make your Wii a virgin, although I don't know how well it fairs on the 4.2 system menu. As soon as you start a USB Loader it just rightfully shits off? Have you tried other loaders?

It doesnt shut off. Just freezes. one of the new loaders I teid shows a few words and freezes. This happens with either burned copies or USB laoders.

Try to format your sd-card with this tool
Try to run signcheck if that fails, post the signcheck.cvs here when done
If that still fails, try to bannerbomb or cboot2 signcheck.

No one deleted any ios, right?

I tried formatting the SD card and I am still having the same issues. As far as deleting and of the IOS files, none were deleted and all of the instructions regarding the IOS on the wii were followed per the walkthroughs.

    Try to run signcheck
    From HBC
    From Preloader
    Using bannerbomb
    Form bootmii, using cboot2

One of those should work, but hell if they fail try
    smash stack
    indianna pwns

When softmodding, everything installed, no errors?
You can also try another card.

Thanks for the help. I ran SignCheck and this is the info I got:

    Using Ios 36(rev 3351)
    Region USA
    Hollywood version 0x11
    Getting certs.sys from the Nand

Found 18 IOS on this console

    Analyzed IOS70(rev 6687)...
    Trucha Bug : Enabled
    Flash Access : Disabled
    Boot2 access : Disabled
USB 2.0 IOS TREE : Disabled

Press the reset button to continue

And it appears as if this also disconnects the controller and I have to mash on the power button to reset as well.

If anyone can help me to get this to work, it will certainly make me appreciate the wii I had running before my nephew formatted the drive and started this mess.
