Thats where you messed up. When installing an cios, you dont use wad manager. You only use wad manager when installing an ios. Dont get cios and ios mixed up. When you download cios38rev14, you should have a folder called cios installer. Inside that folder should be a boot.dol file. Place that entire folder in your apps folder on your sd card. Along with that download there should also be a ios38 wad file. You want to place that in the root of your sd card. Run HBC and select cios installer. Get passed all the warnings until it asks you the method of installation. Youll want to select wad file (if you have the wad file) or network (if you dont have the wad file). Youll want to install it as ios249. Once installed, start up neogamma and it should say at the bottom ios249 rev14.
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

I forgot to mention that what I just said wont fix the error 002 screen. Youll still need to install the newest ios53 wad which can be found in some of the NSMB threads. Another thing to remember is that if you are trying to play a backup of that game, make sure you burn the correct game because not all work on softmodded consoles using disc method with neogamma.

cIOS38 rev 14 and neogamma r7/r8 will fix the 002.

Both of these files are linked in the NSMB guide (which is linked in my sig).

Thats where you messed up. When installing an cios, you dont use wad manager.
IOS222 is a custom IOS and that can be installed with wad manager. As long as you have a .wad of the IOS you want to install be it IOS38 or IOS222, wad manager can be used to install any IOS, custom or not.
