Hello, Drivekey best option for me

Hi im new to all this wii stuff ive had my wii for a year now and decided its time to try a mod doing a little research with the time I have ive decided to go for a drive key.

Although ive read somthing that says it wont play Super mario bros because of some new protection, unless its updated. Now thats what I dont understand how do you go about updating the drive key? Is it a simple process as I dont want to break the wii? Does it matter what firmware is on the wii itself will that also need updating also if its updated with the drivekey in what will happen or will it need to be taken out of the wii then updated?

    In a nutshell
    1. How to update drivekey?
    2. Does the wii need updating?

2009-11-26 >> NSMB fixed on DriveKey!
We have fixed the NSMB issue in DriveKey. The updated firmware will be in all chips shipping from Monday 30th November. We will also be providing an update for existing DriveKey owners, which will be released as soon as the JTAG programmer is ready. In the near future we will also publish a standard for appending BCA data at the end of the ISO image, so that any new game with this new protection will work without any update of the chip. The actual game ISO will remain unmodified.

Hi and welcome to WiiHacks ANTHO4O

If you need advice or help for anything Wii related you have joined the right site, whether its hard or soft modded.

Don’t be shy, ask if you are stuck, just don’t expect other people to do all the work for you.

Before you start anything, make sure you read the rules go over the tutorials, and most importantly, search before asking questions.

Make sure you post in the correct areas of the forums.

Here is the site index Ultimate WiiHacks Index written by ShadowSonic2

If you are starting from scratch, new 3.1-4.1 written by Dogeggs

If you already have Homebrew, upgrade to 4.1 written by Dogeggs

Don’t update to 4.2, but if you are already on 4.2, complete 4.2 guide written by Messie

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.

I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.
