    Interesting, I bought mine couple of days ago at Costco.

    So if you are saying that mine is old, will cIOSCORP_v3.5 work?

    What else can I try before going to USB route ??

    were you able to install bootmii as boot2? or IOS only?
    i would just reccomend u get a USB HDD, it does not wearout ur drive. Im getting a drive myself too even tho my backup launcher works.

    I think I will go the way of UBS and add my HD to the system.

    Why would I need dvdx ?

    I am trying to play backed up DVDR games. not DVD movies

    dvdx allows you to play backups.not just dvd's.

    DVDx just allows the system to "see" burnt discs. The loader "plays" the games. And yes, seems like you got the particular D3-2 chipset, so your best route is to get a USB HDD. You can find a link in my sig for a compatibility list for when you go and purchase a drive.
