    Christmas present

Hey there guys i need some help bigtime. I have no idea what any of this stuff is to be perfectly honest but a cousin of mine has a hacked wii. He says that he downloaded a chip in it but with the newer wiis you cant do that. I cant afford to buy a ton of expensive wii games for my kids but i really want to get them a wii and let them get the full experience with it. I was wondering with the very latest wiis is it possible to hack them? I would prefer to not have to open it up and tamper with it but if someone has a very detailed explanation i would really really love you forever. I want to give my kids the best christmas yet and being able to play bootleg games would be absolutely amazing

hi your cousin downloaded software that was then put onto an SD CARD and then used to modify the system files on the wii. the newest wiis that are coming out come with a different dvd drive installed on them. this prevents playing backups from disk. so if you went to purchase a wii at this time, there is a 50/50 chance you could end up with one of those. however, this does not prevent the wii from being modified with software and the wii comes with usb slots in the back. backups can still be played using usb devices such as flash drives and external harddrives if the image files of the games are loaded onto them

ahh that is were our guide's section in the main forums come in handy. you'll first have to do the wii modification. depending upon your system menu version there is a softmod guide for 3.1-4.1 and one exclusevly for 4.2. this can seem overwhelming but if you read carefully and follow directions it is quite simple and there are always forum members to help if you get stuck along the way. if you feel the need to understand the meaning and use of the terms used, there is an understanding cios guide as well as other reference guides written by various members. once the softmod is completed you will then need to decide what type of device to use, i don't have the link off hand but there is a compatibility list as well. you will then be able to install different applications onto the wii that will enable you to launch the games from the device. but it may still be possible you were one of the lucky ones in which you may still be able to play disk backups
