Question Can't get rawdump 2.1 to work

I want to use rawdump 2.1 to make backups of my original Wii games. I have 2.0 .net framework already on my computer ( running Windows 7 Ultimate x64) I keep getting an error message whenever I run the program. I even tried opening the DVD tray before running the program. Noting seems to work. Is there another program besides rawdump 2.1 I could try??

I am presuming you ahve one of the 4 or so DVD models that can read the Wii disc directly. I will also presume you have searched this site and already read the RawDump guide. Given those factors, try SuperDump.

Maybe I didn't give enough details about my situation. I have a Drivekey in my Wii and I was trying to back up my Wii games to be used on my Wii. I never softmodded before but is rawdump and superdump designed only to used with a softmod?? Thank You.

Actually, I think the more relevant issue is your PC setup. I think that a 64bit Win7 is the problem. The dumping programs are a bit older and I believe none of the 4 or 5 DVD Readers are made anymore. As you have tried following the RawDump program per the guide, I would suggest instead of trying to dump and then burn your own backups, that you do what everyone else does since the DVD Readers went out of production and common circulation: download ISOs of the games that you own and then use ImgBurn or Nero software to burn the ISO to disc.

Sources for Wii game ISOs include tehparadox.com-look for hippyfreaks ISO Only thread; WIISO.com, and a number of Torrent sites. You can read the sub-forum area of this website for favorite torrent sites.

I forgot about me using a 64 bit operating program. I found my DVD-rom on e-bay:

    HP HITACHI LG GDR-8164B GDR-8164 GDR8164B DVD-ROM BLACK - eBay (item 170409408047 end time Dec-19-09 21:47:22 PST)

I was beginning to wonder if it was working. In the mean time I have just started to download iso Wii games and burning them with imageburn at 4x speed. I tried to go slower but the DVD-R (Taiyo Yuden) disc's I am using will only burn 4x at their slowest speed. I did my first one last evening. Haven't had time to test it with the Drivekey in my Wii yet. Just my luck, I only found one back up in iso format to download. Thanks for your input.

You are using excellent DVD-R blanks and 4X should be fine. Don't forget some games are hard to play from backup-those games usually have a lot of onsite posts, threads and even tutorials. Good luck and I'm sure you will be running into more opportunities in the future to remember both Windows 7 AND 64bit
