    Why not update 4.2

I have a virgin Wii with System Menu 4.0, and I see the recommendations about not update to 4.2.
Why?, if the 4.2 can be hacked
Is more safe update from 4.0 or is a recommendation for the people with a Wii already hacked?

Thanks, and sorry for my English

the whole purpose of 4.2 was to kill homebrew.

Update to 4.1, you gain nothing by going higher than 4.1

most of the earlier updates were to improve functionality. this paticular update to 4.2 was clearly an attempt to block a vulnerability the hacking community were previously able to take advantage of. a way around it was found but the update itself did nothing to improve the gaming experience. as far as the modification is concerned there are differences in the process, so it is important that you have decide wheather on not to use 4.2 and if so update to it before you do the modification.

Don't some games (or future games) have forced updates in them? Lets assume I go out and buy 'the new super mario wii" and assume it has a forced update to 4.2 and I am currently on a softmoded 3.4u. If my goal is to use USB loader GX and rip all the games I buy, will those ripped games still have the forced update requirement?

no games have, or will ever have 'forced' updates. No game requires a particular System menu to play, just specific ios's. Any game ripped to a USB hdd will no longer have any update partition.
