Question connecting my wii to the internet

HI, I just bought a LU30 wii with 4.0U firmware and I've been hearing that if my wii updates to 4.2 it will complicate things for me. So my question is If I disable the wiiconnect24 is it safe for me to connect my wii to the internet without it updating automatically? Heck I was so nervous I turned off my open network router when I turned my wii on.

lol. There are a few ways that an update can get you.

    1) Disc - Still need to click yes though.
    2) Wiiconnect24 - Still need to click yes though.
    3) Update option in Wii Settings.
    4) Shop channel - Still need to click yes though.

Using the wifi internet, multiplayer, opera do not open you up to an update.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

So basically if you connect your Wii to the internet the only way it could get updated is if you agree to it? Just checking as im on 3.1E and it works really well with USB Loader and dont want to mess that up. ^^

I also turn on the parental controls. Not so much to keep someone out of the settings but to make it more cumbersome to make changes to the settings that will normally bring up the prompt to update.
