    Bricked or?

Well, I bought my new Wii (which sadly turned out to be one of them new DVD-R incapable players).

    I installed the following:
    preloader .30
    HomeBrew Channel
    CIOSCORP 3.5
    DVDX

Obviously would not work on DVD-Rs... To make matters worse I updated to 4.2E with the offical Nintendo updater, the update stopping at 30% or so, but still my system says its 4.2E... Anyways, the thing is - Now originl games (Super Mario Galaxy) will not run, when I launch it - all i get is a black screen...

Is this fixable, or is it time to invest in a new Wii?

Do you get the black screen when you hit start on the disc channel or after the health warning?

eeegads, why did you update to 4.2?

AFAIK this is fixable and worse comes to worse you could always play through a USB loader.

But anyway I cant offer much more help, I don't really like touching anything that has had cIOSCorp on it

That's probably due to installing cIOSCORP. It changes the way games are read from the drive, even retail ones.

I just tried to reinstall Homebrew using bannerbomb exploit following tutorial on Youtbe.
I can load BannerBomb but it will crash once it loads to a black screen, same as when launching a game. Hmmm. (This moethod was supose to work for Wii 4.2).

Your wii may survive if you stay away from youtube. We have guides here, and they work.

Never use the Disc Channel, it suck's and cause bricks! Use Neo gamma or USB only!! I havn't used the Disk Channel in over a year!! Also Don't forget, NEVER UPDATE!!
