Us Error #001 Unauthorized Device Detected

Hello, as like with most of the posts you read, I am new to the Wii. My Wii is running 4.2U, I followed the procedure for modding it, http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html and have successfully installed various wads and Wiiware games. I tried my first ISO (Mario Kart) with Verbatim DVD-R, I'm a little confused with the whole PAL/NTSC thing. This copy of Mario Kart says (PAL). Will my modded Wii run PAL and NTSC? Or is there an option that needs set to run it, in NeoGamma R7? Or something else? Or is it not possiable to run a PAL game on an NTSC Wii? Because when I load the game I get the Error #001 Unauthorized Device Detected. Now I know from reading the Error Index on this forum that it may be from an outdated iOS. My iOS 249 is Revision 15. Is it this iOS or maybe I need to install different iOS's!? Please point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to get these backups working. Thanks in advance.

I would first try to install cIOS38rev14; there are some questions around the rev15 release. Yes, a number of out of region games can be played by changing the settings in NeoGamma. A lot of trial and error is involved when playing out-of-region games. Try different combinations of Force Video, Patch Video and VIDTV. Sometimes an out-of-region game just can’t be played; one sign of that is a green screen freeze. As as NTSC Wii, your first try will be to set NeoGamma to Force NTSC-that tells the Wii that although the disc is PAL, to try and display it in NTSC format.

Do continue to burn your game ISOs onto Verbatim DVD-R blanks using ImgBurn software.

Do some game backups within your region work for you? If not, do your initial trials using older games within your region. Burn to Verbatim DVD-R using ImgBurn set at a burn rate of 4X for you continue to see errors. Try again at a slower burn rate, if possible 2.4 or 2X and finally at 1X of possible for your DVD burner. If all fail and your Wii is new-you may have the new D3-2 chip and the easiest workaround then is to get a compatible external USB HDD to play from.

Ran into the same problem as we have Rev15. Can someone tell us the difference between 14 & 15 and which one is better to use for playing wii backups on dvd-r discs? I am in the process of putting Rev14 on.

Right now, use only rev14. That copy of cIOS38rev15 is an unauthorized pre-release copy. Waninkoko did not issue that cIOS. That's why there are so many bugs and problems with it-some of the copies floating about may actually have malicious code inserted. Use cIOS38rev14 until you see an official release announcement.

Looking to jump on the back of this thread...

I'm getting the 001 error too. I've got cIOS38rev14 installed and neogamma reports IOS 249 rev 14 as being installed.

I still get this same error with Wii sports resort backup. It should be a PAL game.

Anyone got any clues what else I could try?

    TIA

this is interesting, i've got a chipped wii, had it a while, probably almost 2 years and had it chipped around the time i got it along with 2 mates of mine, at some guy so i have no idea what chip he used... anyway everything was fine until rcently i decided to try out 'We Skii' and it wanted an update, so i did it but now it's giving me this same error #001, i tried some of the older games again and they are still fine, so i tried another new one, Ghostbusters, which gave me error #001.

i was thinking of going to get wii sports resort with the motion plus, but i'm a bit hesitant to do so now... I was thinking of checking with the guy if the chip needs a firmware update, but as i don't know what i have (and don't have a 3 pronged screwdriver to check) it's a bit hard to see if i'll be wasting my time+money.
