    Troubleshooting out of region games

    Hi,

I was just wondering how you guys go about getting an out-of-region game to play. What are the normal steps you use and if you get a black screen, what typically is your next step after that? Is there anything that you have to be careful with that might brick your wii?

Looked for a tutorial but didn't find one. Thanks for any help.

Well you can use neogamma to load out of region games. If you are on a NTSC wii go into the options and tell it to force NTSC when you are trying to play a PAL game. The only thing that you need to know is to NOT UPDATE your wii with an out of region game. It will brick your wii. If you get a black screen its usually a missing IOS for the game.

Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot.

You can force Video modes from Neogamma settings, or use RegionFrii to patch and reburn the ISO.

Well, if you have system menu 3.2-4.1, then I believe you can use that one Preloader hack that lets you play out-of-region games.

But if you're on 4.2, like me, then I was told that you can use a Homebrew app called Gecko OS to play out-of-region games. I want to do so with Monster Hunter Tri and I'm going to try it out in a few minutes. I'll tell you how it goes.

Wow, really? I can reburn an ISO to my region?

So if I had an NTSC-J, I could reburn it to NTSC-U? Huh... I might have to try that some time.

And is it better to use Neogamma or Gecko OS?

Yes you can chance the Video mode on the games with Regionfrii to NTSC -J (Japan) NTSC - U (North America) and PAL (mainly Europe).

Just preference really on Gecko or Gamma.

I use Gamma more than Gecko, so I think I prefer Gamma, but how would I make it so I can play Monster Hunter Tri (NTSC-J I think) using Gamma?

    I have system menu 4.2u.

Either force video with Gamma settings or patch the ISO with Regionfrii.
