at one point a certain model model number had issues that made softmodding unable to work but that has since been resolved and that 4.2 guide should work fine for you

I guess this is a new Wii. Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX have probably got hte new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use USB loaders though.
Yours looks OK. The U is for USA, although this is important you use the same process for modding. ie 4.2.

im having a small issue for the past hour and maybe i am doing something wrong here i followed this guide :

B2)Format the SD card, with FAT32, place the contents of the included folder in the SD card root. Only files in SD root should be:
    root:\Wad\
    root:\bootmii\
    root:\startup.elf
    root:\boot.dol
    root:\00000001\ <-(if available

and when i place the SD disk into the Wii formated in fat 32 and file system exactly like this it will not read it in homebrew just shows me the homebrew screen and thats it ... no menu

    please help

homebrew is only going to show apps that are in the apps folder and there are none at this point. however press the home button while on this menu if you are trying to get to bootmi. if that's what you are asking.
