Games that automatically install system updates?

Excuse me, if this question has already been asked, I tried the search but couldn't find anything. I read in wikipedia about it, and I'll soon buy a second-hand Wii with 3.4E system, so I wanted to know some more info about this. Are certain games really installing newer versions of software? Is there a way to play the games but skipping that update?

From what I know, some games do have updates in them. Mostly all games (except for 1 JAP game) will either have an update for 3.1 or 3.4 in them. They wont ever update your console to higher versions. Only way to update to those higher versions is by going into settings menu and doing system update. Anyways, those disc updates will update your ios and any channels that arent up to date. I also know that when you pop in a game that has a disc update in it, it will ask you if you want to update. Ofcource if you dont update, you cant play the game (thats what nintendo thinks). But the problem with firmware 3.4 is that youll never get that messege. Instead it will just automatically update. Now there are ways to bypass those disc updates. If your on 3.2, you can install starfall. If your on a different version, you can install preloader but preloader works alot better on firmware 4.0+. Both of those programs can be set up to bypass disc updates. You can also prevent that update messege from coming up by simply installing the latest ios that game uses.
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

yes there is away to stop the updates but it would require you to softmod your wii and install an application called preloader. Preloader is a small application that allows you to apply hacks to the system memory look hear for more details on preloader.

Yes, it's not new though. It's for consumer's with no internet connection for their wii. I haven't heard or payed attention to any wii's bricking, just soft mods removed or hard mods no longer working. A fix is never to far behind though. No worries, if any doubt run it thru gators backup launcher or usbloader gx to bypass the updates.

if you are thinking of softmodding then another help full tip would be if you are planning on using backups, then before burning try using wii brick blocker,,
just thought i'd throw that in.

I'm sorry, I just remembered I read about the Preloader in the FAQ last night, but totally forgot that. To summarize it, I must first upgrade my system menu following this guide, and then install the preloader, correct? Or do I have to follow messie's guide for 4.2 after I finish with the first one, and then install the preloader?

The wii I'm going to buy is already hacked/chipped, shall I first ask the owner some details about it?

Thank you all for your time and help.
