I'm a bit confused with your post.

The Wii can only read Retail games but you can download these off the internet for free and use them on a soft modded Wii right ?

So I would for example download 40 games on my pc and put them on my Wii in steps using the usb.

I can buy an external HDD but it don't mind some extra time copying iso's.

You can play backups on any Wii but the only problem with the new ones is they are coming out with the new D3-2 drives that are incompatible with downloaded/backup games that are burned to a DVD-R, you need to use USB loader GX to play the backups from a HDD. The new drives won't read DVD-R only retail GC and Wii games.
I'm now into retro games console hacking and development.
Currently working on Nintendo 64 if you want to help PM me.

Now I am a newbie at these things so I'd like to know a few things :

-Will the Wii hack be able to play Wii/gamecube games without owning them ?

-I've read you need to put your SD card into your PC and put files onto it , I was wondering how I can put an SD card into my PC.

-Will you still be able to play online with a Wii hacked console and update to the latest firmware

-Let's say you ever want to make your Wii normal again (non hacked) , can you just delete the hack ?

    Thanks in advance
Wii. Serial numbers after LEH2676XXXX, LU3884XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use USB loaders though.

Not sure where abouts in the world you are but here you can get a 320 gb hdd for around 50 and that should hold around 120 games.

I agree with you stewy, can't see why people use DVD's, all that hassle when just a couple of clicks the games running from HDD.
Plus you have the ISO's anyway on HDD.

I think you need to understand that you do not load the the games onto your wii you have to load them onto an external usb drive and play directly from that drive, so if you only had an 8gig usb pendrive you could only get say 3 games on it and would therefore be deleting and reloading games quite alot, espesially if you spent the time to load 3 games then did not like any of them.
Plus as sunny87 stated it is a slower prossess to load and play games from pendrives or usb stick..
it is quite a long prossess geting the usb loaders installed and running nicely, so read up well and choose your external HDD carefully as they dont all work..

I use DVD's because I can't have all the .isos constantly taking up my 80GB HDD (I know, it's small... But REALLY fast). Plus, having a hard back-up means I can go share it with another Wii Hacker or delete the game from my HDD temporarily without worry.
