    Black Wii

    Hi Guys
I'm new here and only today decided I would buy a Wii for the 1st time.

I have not bought it yet (UK) but I intend to go tomorrow and buy the Limitied Edition black version as it will fit in better with my AV system.

I know I need to read the forum but if someone could quicky answer a question for me before I buy it, that would be most welcome and save me a lot of reading. Once I have my new Wii I will read everything thoroughly.

    Question -

I will want to back up my games without doing any hardware mods. Bearing in mind I will be buying the new Black Wii, will I have any problems? I'm thinking are there any extra issues with the new software in the Wii that could cause problems?

Thanks guys...now off to see who can do it the cheapest

    John

As far as I know, the only thing that might be a problem is some of the newer wiis have disc drives that do not recognize dvd r discs. People can still softmod and play from a usb device but I do not think there's any softmod way to bypass the new disc drives. (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Your new Wii will probably have 4.1 firmware. Don't update to 4.2.
The drive chip init will probably be D3-2 which means you won't be able to run backup disks, but you will be able to use USB loaders.

Thanks M8, that is not a problem. I have 2 x 500gb usb drives and even if those drives are incompatable in some way I can buy one that is. If that is the only issue then I've very happy
