USB loaders dont see usb at first

    Hey guys,

I tried using a hdd but both usb loader gx and wiiflow refused to recognize it was plugged in, so for now I am trying to use a usb stick until I can get another hdd.

My issue is, I plug my usb stick in the correct usb slot and load up either GX or wiiflow. GX will count down, while wiiflow will tell me to enter a usb device. If I remove my stick and put it right back in, everything works great. Does anyonw know if theres a fix? or is the fix buying a new usb device.

Is the issue my wii, something i did wrong, or my memory stick? I wish I had another stick to play around with to find out. I want to make sure this has nothing to do with my hard drive issue before purchasing another. The hdd i tried was on the compatability list marked as working ... of course only by 1 person though.

Those flash drives are often very cheap and do have their problems. A single report of compatibility does not inspire a lot of confidence, I'm afraid. Overall experience within this and other wiihacking sites reports that the Western Digital external USB HDDs have the fewest problems working with the Wii.

    are you shore about that?

i have a western digital 320g hdd i brough from a pc shop (its 1 of those paper thin drives) and it does not work with my wii at all, yet a $6 2gb usb sticks works flawless.

i wounder if specific usb loaders work with some drives and not others.
i use usb loader gx and that wont pick on my drive at all.

If you're having questions about that you can reference the Compatibility List.

I had a friend help me install GX on my Wii. His WD 750GB was recognized right away, while my Seagate 750GB in a Gigaware enclosure was'nt. I found that cios38rev14 was available, and that I had rev. 13 on mine. After updating the ios, my Seagate was recognized by GX. Maybe that will help you.......
