Talking Please help a complete noob

    Alright how goes it?

I am completely new to this scene I have bought a wii console that has a chip in in it, but I am not sure which one it has an external on and off switch.

How can I tell what chip and firmware I have and is it possible to play super mario brotheres on it?

Your help would be greatly appreciated

don't know how you can tell but as far as i know you still need at least a loader and maybe a system file or 2 to run that game you are asking about. look for the guide in the games section there are alot of questions answered there as well

You can find your firmware by entering the Wii System Options (bottom left corner "Wii" button) and looking at the alphanumeric symbol in the top right hand corner of the "System Settings" pane.

After you've found your firmware, you can follow one of these two guides to softmod your Wii, if you so choose:

    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html

Here's an ironic site for pictures of different modchips, if you feel the need to open up your Wii and take a look: Wii Modchips

Once you're ready, you can follow THIS GUIDE, for NSMB.

    Cheers.
