I have a usa wii that I have been using in Ireland wit ntsc games no problem untill I purchased Mario Carts the other day in new york and had it sent over. The system tells me that it is not recognised and wont play. It is an ntsc game and an ntsc consol. This was for my daughters birthday and there has been considerable dissapointment and tears here this morning so pls pls pls someone help me to get it sorted!!!!!! Does anyone anywhere have any idea why this might not be working ok. The game seems fine, no scratches even though it was bought used. PLS PLSa HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What error code do you get? we need more details.

Check on the back of the game box that it actually says NTSC US only if it says somthing like NTSCJ or PAL then it wont work and you will need to install Gekko OS.

Thanks for fast reply, I will check error code later. Ithink it just says not compatible or something like that as if it would if you put a pal game in it before. How is Gekko installed?

    no problem mate

You can run Gecko 1.92b as an app with the homebrew channel, install HBC then download Gecko 1.92b...

Gecko192b.zip <<< thats the latest version for you.

Read the guids on how to install the homebrew channel then if you post up your results so we know.

Im really sorry but this absolutely 'all greek to me'
HBC and homebrew mean nothing to me as does reading the 'guids'?
    How do I install HBC?
Will doing all this affect playing the other games my Daughter has for it?

Sorry for the dumbness!! We naver had a problem with any other game.
I still havent found out what the exact error code is or what it says on the back of the box. I am at work. I would love to get this sorted for her coming home from school
Does it take long to do it all?

What other problem could it be?

you install HBC by downloading these files Wii Softmod 111009.rar

follow these instructions (author - dogeggs)

a). Put all the files from ‘copy to sd card.rar’ onto the root of the SD Card. It should look like this when done.

b). Insert the SD card into Wii.

c). Go to Wii Options, then go to Data Management > Channels > SD Card, then you will get a message saying "Load boot.elf?" , select 'Yes' and the Hackmii installer will run.

d). Install Bootmii as boot2 if you can, if not then install it as an IOS then go back and install the Homebrew Channel.

and then you can pick up the rest of the guide from here http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

    good luck

Tbh I think you should upgrade first to the latest Wii firmware because in your situation I don't think you need to worry about backups really, it is somthing you could look into in the future maybe so...

step one update Wii over Nintendo WiFi

    Step two download this private.rar
Extract that to an empty FAT32 formated SD card

You should have an SD card with the following files and folders in them like so...
    private/wii/title/aktn/content.bin

Three don't put the SD card in the Wii but turn the Wii on with no SD card inside

Four click the SD card into the front of the Wii then select the little SD card picture in the bottom left of the Wii menu It will say do you wish to run bannerbomb click yes

Just follow the on screen instructions from there on.
