    New to the Wii!!

Hello all. Just setting up my 2 sons Wii for christmas then wrapping it back up. I have installed bannerbomb and homebrew and all patches outlined in messies tutorial http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html

installed neogammer (spelling) and USB loader. My backups will load from disk except for sports resort ( i guess there's a work around for that one) and Olympic winter games (nothing found yet on that one)

wii firmware is 4.2. I have a seagate 500GB external that i have made a 100GB partition formated by WBFS manager. when attempting to load from usb, system just reboots to wii menu. have tried both usb ports. also, dont know if this matters. the other 400GB of that drive is NTFS with 300GB of files.

    Any help is appreciated.

Your drive is most likely not compatible, i know the freeagents have a lot of problems with the Wii. For a list of compatible drives you can go here: Wii USB Compatibility List - WikiTemp

Sports Resort requires an alt.dol in order to watch the movie in the beginning [for the motion plus attachment] then to save after the movie. After then the alt.dol is no longer needed. You can search the forums on how to get it to work exactly.

What a nice father you are pre-hacking your sons Wii for them before hand. Kudos to you brother.

Also another really good piece of advice, try to install BootMii as boot2 and make a NAND backup, in case something goes horribly wrong with your Wii. You can then restore it to full working state.

Thanks sOur for the quick response. I have read that the passports are probably the way to go. just wanted to get it up and running without the added expense. Oh well!

Now as far as the Bootmii issue. My wii only gave the option to run as IOS. If theres a way to change that..let me know. As far as NAND. whenever I choode bootmii option from hombrew. it takes me to the CIOS installer. can't figure out how to get off of that.

The best thing for you to do is to just format the card and start fresh again. That should fix the cIOS Installer problem.

By formatting the SD card, you are not deleting the mods that are already on the console. Everything will work the same except any programs that you used to load from inside the homebrew channel, will have to be put back onto the SD card [such as a wad manager, Homebrew Browser, or anything else that wasn't installed as a channel].

Please DO NOT format the Wii Console, this will fark things up!!! :\

going to bother you one more time. I reformated SD followed messie to a "T" still get (custom IOS installer 2.0) screen after launching bootmii. NUTS!!!! can you delete the CIOS 222 installer and cios38r14 installer from SD after using them?

also, cant get preloader installed. it is 1 freaking file (preloaderv0.30r3-phpgeek.dol) where the heck does it go and how do you access it?

have to do all of this after the boys go to bed so they dont catch me LOL

You have to rename it "boot.dol" and then put it in a folder named preloader, then into the app directory of your SD, and yes you can delete those installers from you SD card.

ok sOur. I think i figured out the bootmii issue. I replaced the bootmii folder from the Cios install with the original Hardpack (messie) file. Does that sound correct? Bootmii then launched into config for nand back and recovery. Still haven't figured out preloader crap. Is there a "best" all in one file to grab for a fool proof preloader install?
my hack was done with the ios70patch from messie. thanks for all of your valuable info, kids can call you uncle sOur lol!!!

hi for help with preloader go to

    Preloader - WiiBrew

in regards to installing preloader put your preloader.dol file in a folder named preloader and make sure you rename your preloader.dol to boot.dol then place it in a folder on the root of your sd card called apps then load up homebrew channel and run preloader.
