I'm on the same boat. Get error 1053 with every game i play on a soft modded wii i bought today at gamestop. It had system menu 4.1 installed already. I softmodded it and did the trucha bug stuff and downgraded iso15.

I used an official nintendo wii sd card (sandisk). I tried Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Punch Out!. I used larry's guide from afterdawn forums. Also able to play vc and wiiware. Just not any dvdr backups (Verbatim dvd-r, 2.4x speed, in imgburn).

yea, same setup for me too...
and same error, not sur if this is a disc drive that JUST can't be burnt, but not sure.
I wold like to know if it is the drive. I would use the USB loader, apparently that works, but this wii is for a buddy and he wont know how to do that.

I'm hoping we don't have the new d3-2 drives. If that is the case then dvdr backups won't work for us. Only usb loaders (External hdds).

Nope! Thats why i'm not doing it. Don't want to void the warranty. I guess we both have to wait for some expert advice on this matter. Lets hope we are not victims. I already got three backups ready to get some play (If we are cleared).

I think you folks have to get yourselves USB HDDs to play your game backups. The old 1053 error code used to mean just a bad burn or media problem. Now it is coming up as some combination possibly associated with NeoGamma and newer Wiis-maybe more with the black Wiis. Unknown cause or fix - except NeoGamma in various versions won't work.

USB HDDs do work in those Wiis previously reporting this problem: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-usb-hdd.html
