Change versions of Neogamma (and a less immediate question)

I softmodded my Wii a few months ago with HBC and Neogamma R6 IOS249 (Rev 14)

All I really use it for is Wii Ware, Virtual Console and playing backups. I didn't get too much into the technical side of things. (I know how to install wads and download and burn backups; I even managed to successfully run Waninkoko's Updater to get to 4.1u System Menu) I try to download the USA versions of most games. If I get a PAL or NTSC and can't get them to play after forcing video a few times I give up. I've never tried Wiiscrubber or making my iso files region free. I didn't want to muddle up my brain by trying to learn too much stuff at once.

    Anyway, my 2 questions are:

    1. Do I need to uninstall Neogamma R6 to install Neogamma R8 Beta 7?

    2. If so, how do I do this. It's not as simple as deleting the channel, is it?

Also, less important for now, is there a way to back up my backups?

I have a ton of games on DVD, and am seriously looking into going the External HD route this black friday. I'm held back right now cause my computer is down, and the backup computer has a bootleg copy of windows, so it's only got Service Pack 1, which means I can't get the .net crap needed to install WBFS stuff. I'm getting there. But I don't want to have to redownload a bunch of stuff just to phase out my DVDs.

Thanks to everyone here just for being here, and thanks in advance for any help.

If you have that many games laying around, I would advice you to move on to using USB Loader GX. It's really much better than loading from disc! You will notice what I'm talking about once you start using it..

    As for your first question:
All you need to do to update this program is to take replace the files on your SD card. You will find your programs in the APPS folder. You just replace the three files in the NEOGAMMA folder. And then your done!

If you want to take backups of your games, you could use a PC burn program with a way to copy discs. I used NERO to do this with my discs back about a year ago.. It works fine! But I would advice you to buy a 500GB or larger, harddrive and start using USB Loader!

    Good luck!
"If somebody helps you, don't just SAY "thanks".. Press the button! That's why its there.."

Wow, that is easier than I thought. Yeah, a 500 gig is the plan, My ex-wife works at Staples, so I'll know in advance what drive is on sale, and where in the store it's gonna be. Like I said, the only hurdle is my damn broken computer.

Aww man. I don't have Neogamma in my APPS folder. I have it installed as a channel. Does this make a difference?
