    WAD manager?

First of all, I have (or had) nothing installed in my Wii (4.2u). Second, I really don't know any technical stuff, tried to do this but myself but I really couldn't understand many of the things listed in most FAQs, and most involved installing the HBC, which I don't want to install, and other programs and IOS and other stuffI have idea what they're for.

Basically, wanted to play Doc Louis Punch Out, guy said that I could "download" it and there was no need to install HBC or any of those things. That it was something like a ROM on an emulator. So, I saved some stuff in an SD card (boot.dol, WAD and PRIVATE folders) He said I only needed to insert the SD card, run WAD manager, and install the wad from the WAD folder. It gave me an error.

Then he gave me a file "IOS249-64-v65280.wad" and said I had to uninstall it in WAD manager but it gave me another error as well.

Then had me changed "boot.dol" to "boot.elf", installed "boot.mi(?)" as an ISO and "HBC" from a different page, now I got the HBC channel (which I didn't want in the first place) and the wad still can't install the wad.

    ---

So yeah, is there anyway to make this work? I don't want to install any unnecesary programs, only get the wad installed.
If not, then what steps could I take to completely erase these stuff

First stop listening to your friend before you brick your wii. You can not half hack your wii. The HBC is the safest thing you could install, much safer than any wad.

1- give up and be glad your wii still works

    or

2- follow the 4.2 guide below and do everything it says, then you will be able to play the game. Everything is very must necessary.

    Best of luck

Also, what you are trying to do could work, but it is silly. There is not guide for it and it would require a lot of knowledge on your part to succeed.

OK, thanks. It's just that he said that it was like playing a rom on the computer, without having to install anything. Didn't really want to install HBC since more people use my wii and even if I tell them to not update or stuff like that, they probably would do something and don't want to get the wii bricked.

So, if I follow all those steps would I be able to play the game? I don't really care for HBC or watching DVDs or any other stuff that can be done, just want to play this game. And after being done, can they be erased without leaving any trace?

Edit: Also, as I said I already have the HBC, and bootmii(?) installed, do I just follow those instructions or do I have to erase them first?

Installing wads is not like a rom, you need to be very careful with them. Most are good but be sure you get them from a good source. A bad wad can break your wii. There is an excellent source for usa wiiware on this site, just be careful never install an out of region wad.

The guide is excellent, it will allow you to do just about anything you want- you will like it I am sure. Just take your time and read it through, get a good grasp of it and be sure to ask any questions should they arrise. If you do have question stick with the guide and wait for help, the only trouble people have is when they rush and jump from one guide to the next. Don't skip steps.

If you don't want to do it and the only thing you have installed is the hackmii package, you can uninstall it using the same method you installed it with. There are ways to block the wii from updating, and this usually does not brick your wii- just kills your hacks.

    Best of luck.

If only more people would learn about what they are doing, instead of wanting a step by step toturial from other people all the time - then they would be able to logically think themselves through these minor problems themselves!

Thanks, the FAQ seemed kind of overwhelming since it was kind of long and I thought you had to make a lot of modifications, but it actually was pretty easy to follow and it didn't involve may steps. Could install the wad, wasn't really what I expected, but oh well.
