    Question disk loader problem

    hello people of wiihacks,

i am having trouble loading wii disks. i loaded a wad that downgraded my wii from 4.0u to 3.2u. Everything worked fine until the preloader flipped out again, so i loaded the wad manager and reinstalled the system menu but the problem is that the disk channel has picture of a wii system update on it and wont let me play games.

if it helps, i found out that what i loaded was a regionfree software because i could load it through homebrew if i turned on regionfree channels and disks.

is there a way i could load another disk menu without updating the wii? or another way to get around updating?

As far as preloader flipping out, are you sure you updated the hacks.ini for your newly downgraded system menu? As far as the Disc Channel having a system update in it, is it becuase you have a disc in the system?

I would like to know why you keep having problems, do you just keep installing whatever you get your hands on or something? Like why did you downgrade in the first place? Are you following a tutorial?

i like to try new things, but the preloader flipped out and i used a tutorial on youtube because it wouldnt let me back to the wii menu, but the WAD it had me load downgraded it from 4.0u to 3.2u. What started all of this was trying to get the Softmii to work, which it finally does but i cant get the disc channel to work anymore.

and yes, i do have a disc in when it say i need a wii system update

do you think its possible to use the wii update channel in homebrew where it strips the update by using the disc and then just load the WAD for the disc channel?

No what you should do is use WiiScrubber to remove the updates from the disc [this entails you to rip the disc so you have an ISO to work with, then you re-burn the scrubbed image].

You should really virginize your wii, and then start the mod all over again with one of the wonderfully prepared guides from this site. Trying new things is not a bad thing, but when you don't have a way to restore your Wii [such as BootMii as boot2 with a NAND backup] then trying new things could lead to a brick. You don't want that. So if anything you should try to install BootMii as boot2 and make a backup, then you can try whatever you like with a way to restore in case of a brick.
