    New Booty needs help

Im new to the whole Wii scene and needed some help. First off let me apologize for starting a new thread when there already is one, and sorry for asking a question there is probably an answer for already...i just can't find it. now my problem and question. i bought a new wii with sys menu 4.2u. i was able to install homebrew and all that with the excellent tut's online. I recently obtained a copy of super mario sluggers. Im trying to play my games from a usb HDD which is working out great so far. I tried to play the mario game and only a black screen comes up. i went through the settings and changed everything according to the online troubleshooting guides, and still nothing. a couple other games i have on the usb device play fine. my questions are, what type of files or games should i be looking for? I thought cISO threads are for usb people like me so thats where i've been downloading. how big should the files be normally? because i have some compressed ISO's that are over 4 GB in size and some that are like .68GB, and where should a person like me seek support in the future to avoid the useless post. Thanks for your time and im sorry for wasting it.

As far as a black screen, that means your missing the proper IOSs:

but you will be hard pressed to install the specific IOS if you do not have homebrew, you need to use a wad manager to install them.

These are the IOSs needed to run vc-wiiware and channels:

As far as the sizes are concerned, the smaller games are usually scrubbed and if your using WBFS Manager it basically scrubs the ISO for you.

ok i think i get it...the whole 249 thing was just to be able to play backups and the others ios's are for game playback among other things. if its not too much, where can i find all of the ios's? then i just download and move to the /wad folder on my sd card and install with wad manager? right? thanks.

Well if you have the ISO for a game you can use WiiScrubber and extract the IOS out of the game, then install it with Wad Manager. If you used one of the modding tutorials, the download packs within those tutorials come with the IOSs most games need to run already.
