    In need of some advice

I am new here and dont want to make anybody mad but, i just purchased a wii that was soft modded. I was looking around on the site and saw the guide for soft modding a wii. one of the steps is to have a backup incase you "Brick" your wii (not sure really what that means yet). I was just wondering if i should un mod my wii and redo it myself so that i can have the backup stuff. Any help would be great. Thanks again.

No need to remove anything, most of the time you can overwrite or replace a previous outdated version of something. If you primary concern is to get a backup copy of your NAND, just run bootmii and that will tell you whether it can be installed as boot2 or only as IOS. If bootmii can be installed as boot2-DO IT and then make a backup of your NAND.

Read through this introductory guide and also this soft mod tutorial and compare what you have on your Wii with the applications and channels you read about and also a bit about what they do:
