    Question Drivekey + Softmod?

    Hi all,

I have a chipped PAL wii and I'm wondering if I can softmod it to run the games that the chip doesn't handle, like for example "New Super Mario Bros".

So is it possible to have both at the same time? I'm a total noob to softmods.

PS: Reason for keeping the chip is to run some of my original ntsc games from japan.

    Thanks in advance!

You sure can softmodding compliments hardware modding just fine. Just find the appropriate guide [both of them are in my sig] and mod away

Thanks! which 2 guides? I'm guessing one of it is the 3.1-4.1 Softmod guide because my wii is on the 4.0E.

I'm gonna try this out soon, just backing up my 8gb sdcard now before i wipe it for this task

Also, is there any precaution I have to take after softmodding? For example updates and stuff like that.

Make sure that your card is NOT an SDHC card as this will mess with the modding process. SanDisks have the best compatibility for the mods you will be using, I'm sure the size of the card is fine [but i could be wrong, most people suggest a 2 gig SanDisk non-SDHC card].

Yes follow the 3.1-4.1 guide [read it a few times so your sure you understand what your getting into]. Make sure that WiiCOnnect24 is OFF (it could adversly effect the modding process) [you can find this in the Wii Settings menu [internet can stay on just WiiCOnnect24 should be off]. Also make sure that you never do any updates from a store bought Wii Game. If your going to go as far as to buy a Wii Game, rip the ISO yourself from the disc and make sure you use something like WiiScrubber to get rid of any updates on the disc. Other than that...just enjoy playing some Wii Games.

On a side note, if your going to play gamecube backups, make sure you install mIOS and the Gamecube Backup launcher 0.2. If you can't track down a copy of those two items, i would be more than happy to send you a link to these files i uploaded myself.
