    USB loader question

Hello fellow wii Hackers, Ive been reading up on the usb loader tutorials and theres so many ways to do it im having a brain overload. I have a PAL wii with firmware v3.4E no soft mods just a Drivekey to play backup discs and i want to play backups via usb with a hard drive. I have no homebrew and no internet connection to the wii (dont plan on ever connecting wii to internet) so i was wondering which usb loader to use dont really want to change firmware or use homebrew if i dont have to. Can someone please steer me to the easiest way to play backups via usb without messing around to much. Thanks in advance

All the USB Loaders will use cIOS38rev14. Do you have that? You will probably need HBC, I can't see a way of doing it without updating to 4.1. Maybe someone who uses a Drivekey can help.

hey mate thanks for reply dont think i got cIOS38rev14 as i havnt done any soft mod only plug and play with the chip. I got the usb loader gx pack and noticed on the sd card folder it has cIOS38rev14 installer on it. I was wondering can i use the 3.1-4.1 softmod tutorial on here and just do the first step 1
    1. INSTALL BOOTMII AND THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL
a). Put all the files from ‘copy to sd card.rar’ onto the root of the SD Card. It should look like this when done.
b). Insert the SD card into Wii.
c). Go to Wii Options, then go to Data Management > Channels > SD Card, then you will get a message saying "Load boot.elf?" , select 'Yes' and the Hackmii installer will run.
d). Install Bootmii as boot2 if you can, if not then install it as an IOS then go back and install the Homebrew Channel.

Then run the usb loader gx through HBC will that work or do i have to do the whole HBC softmod to use the usb loader?

You can use this guide to update to 4.1. Best to go through the guide carefully. Install bootmii, and cios. On the options you will need a USB Loader,
and any other features you'd like.

Your going to need those IOSs to play games, NeoGamma is a backup loader, so if you plan on burning games you will need this. The USB Loader is only an option if you want to load Wii games onto a USB drive and run them through that.

This thread will give you an idea on what cIOS means and does: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...explained.html

And this thread will explain a little more in depth as to how and what to do with USB Loading: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...sb-loader.html

It all depends on how you like the interface of the loaders, they all do basically the same thing. I used to use USB Loader GX, but have since switched to WiiFlow

    You can find WiiFlow here:

    And USB Loader GX here:

hey mate just in the middle of doing softmod 3.1-4.1 and because im on v3.4 it says i should update but when i select firmware update 4.1 it starts then stops on the initializing network (i have no internet connection to the wii) so i cant do it. Can i just go to install (IOS249 & SD card) and install these wads from the 'wad' folder:

    IOS38-64-v3610
    IOS50-64-v4889
    IOS53-64-v5149
    IOS55-64-v5149

with my v3.4 still then install the usb loader. Will that work? since i only want to use the usb loader and not NeoGammaR7 or preloader. Or do i have to update to v4.1 to use usb loader and if i do is there a way to update without nework connection?
Thanks again for all ya help
