Question Ho wto run VC and Wiiware Games on Wii?

I must have looked everywhere but I have not found a tutorial that tells me how to run VC and Wiiware files/games on the Wii. I have installed the Homebrew channel but don't really know where to go from there.

    Thanks.

Those are easy, they install automatically from the shop channel.

My mistake. A friend has given me a DVD with lots of VC and Wiiware titles on it and now I want to play them. Shop channel is not the answer, right?

Just pulling your chain. The wiiware and vc games will be wad files. You install them with wad manager. It is very important that the wads are in your region and not corruped, if they are bad you will banner brick your wii- so be sure you have bootmii and preloader installed. You will need a softmodded wii to use them. Also you should look into triiforce, which emulate your wii's nand and allows you to install wiiware to a nand on your sd card rather than your wii- much safer, but takes some work to get going. If your wii is ntsc you can get it all from All NTSC-U Wiiware to date and virtual console!!!. I would skip the vc for older games and just use an emulator.

    Thank you very much mauifrog.

My Wii is NTSC and my Wii is NOT softmodded, rather I am using DriveKey. Do I still have to worry about getting bricked?

You mentioned that I need to install bootmii and preloader to be safe but you also mentioned my Wii has to be softmodded. As I mentioned earlier, it is not softmodded! So what should I do now?

You will not be able to install wiiware/vc unless your wii is softmodded. Bootmii, preloader, and your chip provide some means of recovery should you accidentally install a bad wad on your system. Best thing is to try triiforce and emulate your NAND, this way you don't have to worry about bad wads.

To softmod your wii follow one of these guides.
