Do I need to stop my wii updating?

Hi all,

I have recently installed a softmod on my wii and I can now play copied games. So all is good.

I have been reading some articles about my wii bricking if I perform an update, currently im on 4.2e.

Do I need to do anything to stop my wii updating? I will only be playing games purchased from my region (UK).

Turn off wiiconnect24 I have heard from other people on this thread that it does more harm than good for the wii. Related to heat?
