I'm new to the wii homebrew scene couple questions

But I'm familiar with hacking systems. I've previously hacked my psp / xbox etc.

Anyways. I have a few questions. First of I'll be using this guide to hack my wii. It's version 3.4u. this one http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

Is that the most recent / safest?
I don't have wi-fi. So I want to do this all using an sd card. Must I "have" wi-fi in order for me to install it? Or can I just download things onto the sd card and go from there?

Also, when I do instal the homebrew channel will i still be able to use the wii's online features when ever i managed to aquire online for it? If I was to update my wii *not sure how only own two games for it* will it brick or cause any damage to my softmod? Thanks :)

If its posted on this forum, its probably safe. Im pretty sure all U hacks work on an E wii.

When dealing with softmodding your wii, you should never update via a nintendo update. Doesnt matter if its a disc update or you actually go into settings and do a system update. It wont brick your console unless you play an out of region game and use that disc to update your console. Using nintendo's updates though will cause you to lose some if not all homebrew. Also the newest nintendo update, 4.2, will brick your console if it can tell you softmodded it. So basically I am saying... if your going to update, do so downloading the files from here and following these guides. You dont "need" the internet to do this stuff, but it does make it easier.

If I was to ever buy a recent wii game will it FORCE me to update to the most recent firmware? Or it doesn't like like that? I ask because on the psp some games ask you to update before playing the game. Also ones I do softmod it. Will all the files be stored on my wii ? Or must I load my files with either a sd-card or a dvd-disk? Like media players or somethings like that.

you might be asked by a game to update, but you dont need to update to play! you should never accept and update. If a game asks you to update, then its simply missing some ISO wad files, that can be easily obtained and installed.

You will install applications from your SD card, some applications are installed to the wii's memory, some are stored on the card, it really depends on what you are installing.
