Were you able to format the SD card in your PC first? The write-protect lever is a physical thing on the SD card-move it to the other position. It's kinda rare to accidently move it as it's so small and inset, though.

When you look at the SanDisk SD, labelside up. The write protect tab is on the upper left. The white tab should be in the UP position. If you look closely, there's a little printing for the LOCKed position (it's the down position)

I have an SD card that does that, on my SD card there is a little tab you can slide, if you slide that tab to a different position you should be able to write and delete stuff on the SD card.

    edit - Too slow again.

I have a SanDisc 2GB card as well, sometimes when I put the card into the SD slot it says it is write protected but when I pull it out the lever is in the right spot! Anyhoo, come to find out the lever was a little loose so when I pushed it in it locked preventing data writing, pulling it out unlocked it. HA! A little bit of superglue fixed that!

It's actually labeled, Stomp. That's where my nearsightedness comes in handy-I can actually read the little 1/2point font print "LOCK"

I didn't know there was instructions on a SD card, I never bothered to look for print, I just know to slide the little thing in the opposite position. Kinda like on a camcorder tape.

Of course I never even knew this feature was on SD cards until I got the message of it being write protected, then I had to examine the SD, and sure enuf, I guess it does say lock with an arrow on it.
