wii update questions..

Totally new,got wii a week back,not hacked yet,just reading for now..its 3.4U version.Connected internet on wii today,when i go to shop channel it says,i need to update my wii then only i can log on to shop channel....just curious..
1.)if i update my wii,will it change my version from 3.4U to new version,latest version??
2.)if its updated to new version,can i hack wii ????

Do not do a system update, it will update to 4.2 which is more difficult to use than 4.1.

Use this guide to softmod to 4.1

Thanks for replying.Just want to know ,if i wont update and try to hack on 3.4U version. if hacked succesfully,can i then update and can go in wii shop channel??

Read the tutorial that WiiJohn provided for you. At the end you will see the opportunity to install the Shop Channel.
