use image burn or nero to create an ISO of the disc and wii scrubber to take any "updates" off the disc and reburn back to DVD-R

    no.

You can only do that with a backup, NOT with a retail disc.

The easiest method of dumping a retail disc is to use a USB launcher and a USB HDD/ SD card. The usb loader can dump the game direct to the usb/SD, you cannot do this on your PC without a particular LG DVDrom drive. But the usb loader is much quicker and easier.

i use my handy dandy old-school LG (DVD-ROM) drive that i've had for years, pop the disc in and use rawdupmp or image burn to spit me out an ISO just like any other disc, works everytime just gotta have the right DVD-ROM tho i know there are some good tutorials out there using the Wii's internal drive too but if you happen to have one of those LG drives and don't wanna tie up your Wii and put more wear on its drive than just normal game play (which is very little past loading) and wear it out quicker here is a great tutorial.
