Step 4 and 5 Softmod Guide Confusion

Little confused about steps 4 and 5 of this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

Here's the section that's confusing me

    4. UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM MENU VERSION (OPTIONAL)

This step is optional unless you are on 3.3 or 3.4, you may upgrade now if you wish, boot2 v4 owners cannot downgrade! but can upgrade if you want. If you want to update to 4.1 then make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first (step 5a), then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update.

    5. THE FINAL STEP

    a) If you are on system menu 4/4.1 use Wad Manager with default settings (IOS249 & SD card) to install IOS60-patched.wad - make sure you do this before you install Preloader. If you installed it in step 4 then skip this part. Never uninstall IOS60! You will brick!!

I have version 3.4 right now, so step 4 says to complete step 5a and then go back and update to version 4.1. The problem is that step 5a only talks about wii's that are version 4 and 4.1. Do I follow 5a even though I'm still using firmware 3.4?

Also one other quick question, after I finish all of this will I still be able to play my regular copies of games?

    Pharen,
I'm going to answer, but please post your softmod questions in the softmod forum in the future. Thank you.

Go to HBC, select Wad Manager. Choose IOS249 and SD card slot. From Wad manager select the line with the word WAD on it-the file will open, install IOS60patched.

    Now, run FW4.1 Updater.

Resume the Tutorial at Step 5B.

After successful completion of this softmod you will be able to play oth original and backup game discs

Where do I update to 4.1 firmware? If I use the built in internet updater won't it just jump me to 4.2? and sorry about posting in the wrong forum, I'll make sure before posting again.

As it states in the tutorial-your Wii needs Internet access; but turn WiiConnect off. FW4.1Updater will not be connecting to the Nintendo server.

    Internet ON; WiiConnect24 OFF
FW4.1 Updater is an app access through HBC
