Wii Gator - Accidentally deleted its Memory Block.. Is it Ok?

    Hey all,

So I got my Wii modded (I don't know how since somebody else did it for me). However, I have a question I was hoping somebody could help me answer.

On the Wii Menu, there is something called "Wii Gator." Now, I accidentally deleted the memory block for this from the Wii. Thus, when running Wii Gator, I get the blue screen, and the Wii crashes. However, I tried running a burned game, and it appears to work fine.

My question is: Is it ok or did I just seriously mess up my Wii by deleting the block?

    Thanks!!!!

Do you mean you deleted the channel from the Wii? Also when you run a burnt game does it show up in the disc channel? [how are you running the backup game?] And are you hardware or software modded?

No. The Wii Gator channel is still there when I open up Wii Menu (it's only when you run it that it crashes. Since I've never tried running it before, I have no idea if it's supposed to do that or not..... hence, the panic. ;-D) But the disc channel works and the discs open up like any other game.

In terms of the deletion, I went into the data management area and deleted the blocks there.

Hmm... to be honest, I'm not entirely sure whether my Wii was software modded or hardware modded. So sorry. I think some form of a chip was entered but then again, I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks again for your help. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm thinking it's ok, but I just wanted to be sure before I messed anything else up.

The only way that backups will show up in the disc channel are either becuase 1) it's hardware modded or 2) it's software modded with cIOSCORP installed. WiiGator is just a backup launcher program. You can actually delete the channel completely so it doesn't even show up in the System Menu 9cause it seems to not work anyway so why have it there :P)

Your system is fine it's just the WiiGator program thats not working.

So if I'm reading what you typed right, Wii Gator is just a launcher one can use if the original disc channel won't work, right?

Also, how would I go about deleting Wii Gator from the menu?

I feel better now. Thank you very very much.

Well the "right" way to delete it totally is to use AnyTitleDeleter [you run that program inside of the homebrew channel]. Or you could go into the Wii System Options and just look for "channels" and delete the WiiGator Channel if it's in there [if you don't care about being 100% thorough]. As long as your games load in the Disc Channel then YES you can totally delete WiiGator, everything will still work fine.
