    Hi all,

I have just bought a new wii and of course tried to softmod it, it has a menu version 4.2e and i have manged to install homebrew and DVDX but the Bootmii had some sort of problem. now what is my next step as it dosn't seem to load the backed up games. and int the homebrew channell there is no applications. When tring to load bootmii it displays 4 icons and the wii remort starts flashing and i need to switch the console off in order to gain control again. any help please???

First off the BootMii only uses the gamecube controller or the buttons on the WiiConsole itself to choose the options that BootMii gives you [i believe reset moves to different options and eject chooses those option, but you may want to google BootMii and read the intructions for BootMii]. Secondly you just Installed BootMii, the homebrew [which allows you to load homebrew applications] channel and DVDx [which only allows the console to see burnt games, not play them] in order to play backups you need to load cIOS's [mIOS for gamecube backups] into the system.

go here to learn how to do this http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html Start at Part B and you should be fine

The Power button on the Wii navigates and the reset button selects in the BootMii menu.

    Jerome,

As you mentioned your Wii is a new purchase, it is most likely that Bootmii will install only as IOS, not as boot2. What that means for your bootmii menu navigation is that the Wii console buttons won't work as described by Sinyck and S0ur. If that is the case, buy or borrow a GameCube controller to navigate the bootmii menu.

If you're only using a softmod then you won't be able to launch your games thru the disc channel. If you install a backup loader like neogamma r7 and then install cios38rev14 you should be able to play just about anything.

Those two things are safe to install but always be careful and never install anything untill you've done lots of reading and know exactly what it is and does. Good luck! You'll get it going.

Thats not toally true, you can install cIOSCORP and your backups will play in the disc channel [not totally sure if this works 100% on Sytem Menu 4.2], but this is highly NOT recommended as it could do irrevicable damage to your WiiConsole [always do a NAND backup (if you can install BootMii as boot2] so that you can always fix a bricked Wii if you do anything wrong.
