huge probs with preloader and bootmii - is my wii bricked??

Hi everyone, just to let u know right away:
I'm new in this community and am totally unexperienced in soft modding my wii. Due to that, I don't know if I bricked my wii or if I can still save it. I might ask questions that many of you consider 'stupid', but I just don't know who else could help me. Perhaps someone over here can, so here is a detailed description of what went wrong:

My wii is firmware 3.4. E (PAL Version). I installed homebrew and bootmii, following a detailed instruction (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here, so I better don't) which looked generally like this:

first steps:
1) Installing homebrew channel, DVDx & BootMii as boot2

2) Making a nand backup, got 6 bad blocks, but everything up to 80 blocks is ok (well, that's what I've read) Loading and saving the Nand Backup to my SD Card, saving it on my PC and deleted them including bootmii from my SD Card.

(the following points are cited, to guarantee you know where my wii bricked (?))

3) NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR NAND BACKUP, FOLLOW THESE STEPS...

a) Go to Homebrew channel and run Trucha Bug Restorer, load IOS36, press 1, read the warnings then select 'downgrade IOS15', select to load IOS from SD card then let it do its job, keep an eye on what it is doing and make sure you select 'load from sd card' when it asks & don't get any errors.

b) Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, this time select to load IOS15 on first screen using dpad left/right, then select the IOS36 menu & install patched (select 'yes' on all 3 patches) IOS36 to slot 36, again using IOS from SD card.

c) Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, load IOS36 and this time select restore IOS15.

d) Run cIOS38 r14 installer, select IOS36 as the one it should use and then select wad install.


4. UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM MENU VERSION

This step is optional unless you are on 3.3 or 3.4, you have 4.4e so you must upgrade. upgrade now to update to 4.1 then make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first (step 5a), then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update.


5. THE FINAL STEP

Preloader is also an optional install, if you don't want it just skip b & c, but you must do step d, system menu hacks can be taken care of by Starfall (3.2) or startpatch (4/4.1), if you want them click my sig and have a look through my mediafire. There are no system hacks for 3.3/3.4. There are now Preloader hacks for 4.1J Wiis.

a) If you are on system menu 4/4.1 use Wad Manager with default settings (IOS249 & SD card) to install IOS60-patched.wad - make sure you do this before you install Preloader. If you installed it in step 4 then skip this part. Never uninstall IOS60! You will brick!!

...and here is what I did wrong: I accidently went to the preloader FIRST, what I shouldn't have. I didn't install the ISO60 patch first...
then, I was unable to leave the preloader again, a nice guy tried to help me out, but unfortunately couldn't.
I am still able to run bootmii, but when I go on the 'gear'-button and then the 'red arrow' button to use my nand backup (which I've put - together with bootmii - back on my SD Card), it tells me the following:

'RestoreMii will first run in simulation mode. Please insert your SD Card with the Nand backup [which I already have!] and press A (reset) to continue'

The next screen is the one with all the blocks, but it doesn't load them (it seems to me that the Wii does not seem to recognize my Nand Backup, but it is definitely on the SD Card!). On the same screen, I found this message:

'RestoreMii v0.6, Nand ID: ecdc1095
Checking boot2...
BootMii foundin boot2, ok to proceed.
Dumb is for a different Wii
Hit any button to exit'

...and that's it. When I have not inserted my SD Card, and try to enter the Wii menu, it always says directly after turning it on: "The system files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii Oerations Manual for help troubleshooting."

Can anyone please help me?? I don't know what to do...

preloader on 3.4 = fail

you have bootmii and a backup, so it should be fixable, your "dump from the wrong wii" error is common and easily fixable:

Put the files (keys.bin and nand.bin) in root of the SD card, then:

Windows:
1) Start -> Run -> cmd
2) Find the drive letter of your SD card, for example, F:.
3) Type this, replace the X with the drive letter: X:\
4) Type this: copy /b nand.bin + keys.bin nand.bin
5) Then try the restore again.
6) PROFIT!!!

If this fails, then there is another way, but a little more tricky ;)

same outcome basically, i just thought the copy was easier. Its just as easy to do it manually with a hex editor, but it intimidates a lot of people :p

@ davepm: I tried it your way, unfortunately, it fails in windows when I 'enter' step 4...
There is not 'prompt' coming...so nand.bin and keys.bin can't be combined successfully :(

Is there another way to fix it??

You need to hit start- run- copy /b sd-card:\nand.bin + keys.bin nand.bin

replace sd-card with the drive letter of your sd card

But isn't that the same what davepm suggested?

it is, but I am guessing you typed it wrong. If it does not work, try the other way. I believe it should work
